Overview
On Saturday, May 4th, cadets showed up to Carolina Forest high school in preparation for the annual City of Myrtle Beach Drill Meet. Our cadets performed 7 drill routines, those drill routines consisted of Armed Squad, Armed Platoon, Unarmed Squad, Unarmed Platoon, Colorguard, Armed Exhibition, and Unarmed Exhibition. These routines were judged by enlisted personnel and they were graded based on accuracy, precision, and difficulty.
Knockout
The City of Myrtle Beach hosted armed and unarmed knockout at this drill meet. Upperclassmen as well as underclassmen were able to participate in both forms of knock out. Judges slowly disqualify cadets for wrong movements, poor bearing, and late or early reaction times. Overall two of our cadets, A. Keyes and I. Goebel received second and third in unarmed knockout while overall 1 of our cadets, W. Mincey received first place in armed knockout. The first place winner of unarmed and armed knockout each received a trophy.
Awards
Once knockout was over all of the schools formed into their platoons and waited for the results of the City of Myrtle Beach Drill Meet. Our cadets placed second overall at the City of Myrtle Beach Drill Meet with our exhibition teams doing exceptionally well. Overall we are beyond proud of our cadets and the way that we wrapped up this drill year. We look forward to the next drill year and we can not wait to be back.
